BLAUE TREUE BY MORITZ BERG

Rath Image

What did the blue sky tell you?
That it chooses to shine and to glow?
Oh yes it has, but it also leads us uphill to peace and quiet,
Lures us onwards to the deep blue lake,
In which the eternal snow reflects,
Leads us past fir trees and larches
And shows us all kinds of flowers!
Bright blue gentians greet you,
Forget-me-nots answer in light blue,
And bellflowers wear delicate dresses
Sometimes brighter, sometimes darker, yet full of joy.
All this appears quite fine in blue,
Might the valley below possibly be this beautiful too? -
Why not? The lake shines blue there too,
The bushes bloom, the meadows, the clover.
The sage greets you in June winds,
Other flowers too;
And when the corn ripens in golden glory,
The cornflower laughs in the midst of it all!
She gazed up into the sky,
As if she truly wished to be like it,
For blue is the color that does not fade,
That no one forgets, that the wind never fades away!
It can therefore be, year in, year out
A symbol of constant loyalty.
